Eric Carter - Wedding Beauty Expert

Eric Carter, hair and make-up extraordinaire, shared with me some great tips for a bride to prepare for her wedding to make sure she feels calm and confident that she's absolutely amazing inside and out.
  1. Make sure to have a hair and makeup trial at least a month in advance. You want to be able to adjust anything before the wedding day.
  2. Get a trim 3 weeks before the wedding, you want to be fresh with no split ends.
  3. Get your color done the week before the wedding, no one wants to see roots!
  4. Keep your hair classic and simple. You want to look back at these pictures and see how beautiful you are, not what was that trendy hair style.
  5. Enjoy everything! How often do you get to have your hair and makeup done?!
Eric's philosophy is simple - "You want to look like you. Just done." And my brides agree! I've referred several clients to Eric, who have loved his professionalism and nuanced touch. Eric is my go-to guy for special occasions, as well. Check out his work in action below, and on his own blog at http://beautyshoptalknyc.blogspot.com/

Joanne wanted a side-sweep that was sophisticated and reflective of her personality.

Tanya's loose locks were perfectly suited for her newlywed portrait session on the Brooklyn Bridge.

For a festive, formal NYC event, I told Eric I wanted to look as glamorous as a leading lady in a James Bond film - boy, did he pull it off!
